Division Board and Staff, 1. Our Regatta has been rescheduled, and will be merged with a SAREX. The purpose of the SAREX will be Boat Crew Training and Currency Maintenance. This time we might have a visitor, CDR Felker, DIRAUX. The new date has been set for Saturday, 26 June. The plan will be for the OPFAC’s in the Moriches area to meet at Group Moriches at a set time and to proceed east to Station Shinnecock to meet other OPFAC’s coming from the East. Other details have not been worked out yet. 2. Radio Watchstanders and Engineers. Currently we have 2 Watchstanders, at Station Shinnecock and Montauk with 2 Watchstanders in training, Lou Chrisomalis and Rick Robinson. Training is going well. Our long-standing watchstander, Henry Landis, has been doing most of the training. Group Moriches has employed 1 engineer, Merlon Wiggin. We are still looking for someone to maintain an inventory in the Engeneering department at Station Shinnecock. 3. Division 18 now has an newly created Honor Guard. The purpose is to prepare us for ceremonies or parades that might come up. Our first meeting was Tuesday, 18 May. This was an organizational meeting and to give an overview. We had 9 very interested members. 4. All Flotillas have offered multiple Boating safety courses and are scheduling additional classes. We expect an increase of about 30% from last year. 5. Fingerprinting has been going well. All flotillas were visited at least once so far. A second trip is underway. So far we have completed about 70 - 75% of the division. 6. CDR Healey has accepted and approved the “Adopt a Lighthouse Project” for Long Beach Bar Lighthouse submitted by Merlon Wiggin. 7. Project Outreach is being planned throughout our division. We plan to visit about a dozen Marinas giving Vessel exams, Lecturers and meeting the public through information booth. We are being supported by the CG. 8. The firearms coaching program will start in the month of August. Group is waiting for the new gunners mate to get familiar with his new assignment. 9. Keep up the good work.
