Division Board & Staff Our Division wide SAR Exercises held on Saturday, 23 August went very well. We had at least 1 boat from each Flotilla with 1806 and 1808 contributing 2 Facilities. This was not only for training but for fellowship. This exercise turned out very well and plans are underway to have a second one. I would thank all of you for your cooperation. Division 18 now has its own Photographer to accompany me on some District and Division wide events, his name is Jim Edwardson. His responsibility is to accompany me during District / Division Meetings, Conferences, Workshops, Parades, and etc. These photos will be posted on both the District and Division Websites. This is to document Division 18’s involvement in auxiliary activities. Our Instructor workshop was held on Tuesday, 2 September @ 1930 at Station Shinnecock. It was a very informative and worth while workshop. We suggest all instructors and instructors in training attend our next workshop. ANT Moriches has put together an Aids Verification Workshop to Certify or Re-Certify members in Division 18. No one will be able to participate in this program without this workshop. The workshop was held on Tuesday, 19 August at Station Shinnecock. Still on our agenda are the Personal Service workshop, Sexual Harassment Prevention and an Air and Sea Team Coordination workshop. New workshops are being added to the list on a regular basis. New to the list is a “New Staff Officer” Workshop. No dates have been set yet. Remember, that none of these workshops are required. They serve 2 purposes; education and fellowship. PROJECT “KNOW YOUR STAFF COUNTERPART’; we are currently working on a project, I call KNOW YOUR STAFF COUNTERPART. I would like to see selected Division Staff Officers meet with their Flotilla counterpart in all our Flotillas along with the Flotilla Commanders if possible and discuss current issues, projects, or just to ask questions. This will allow all SO’s and FSO’s to get to know each other better or, in some cases, get to KNOW EACH OTHER. Included in this project I would like to see the Division Staff Officers visit each Flotilla to talk about the program they are involved on. At least one visit should be made during the year by most Division Staff Officer. The deadline for completion for Team Coordinated Training (TCT) is 31 May 2004. Division 18 will conduct our TCT class on Saturday, 4 October @ 0800, Station Shinnecock, for all members that still need it and all new members involved in operations. This includes those that will be qualified this year as Boat Crew or Radio Watchstander. Courtesy is paramount in our division. Please make every effort to be courteous to your fellow member. Treat members as you would like to be treated. Our Division Change of Watch is coming up. Mark the date on your calendar, Sunday, 14 December @ 1500. The NCO Club at the Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach for our COW has been reserved. We hope to make this COW even better than last year. Our next Division Meeting will be held on Thursday, 2 October @ 1930 on the Mess Deck at Station Shinnecock. The uniform of the day will be Tropical Blue Long or appropriate civilian attire. This will be an important meeting. Division elections will be conducted. All members are invited and are encouraged to attend. Get information first hand. HONOR RESPECT DEVOTION TO DUTY James H.
