Subject: NOVEMBER DIVISION CAPTAIN’S BRIEFING To All, From: james cornell 1. LAST CALL for our Division Change of Watch. The date is Sunday, 14 December. The place, NCO Club at the Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach. The time 1500. Contact your Flotilla Commander ASAP. 2. Our Team Coordinated Training (TCT) class has been rescheduled for Saturday, 31 January 2004. It will be held at the Mess Deck of Station Shinnecock @ 0830. The deadline for completion for TCT is 31 May 2004. 3. Our next Division wide SAR Exercises is in its planning stage. CDR Felker, DIRAUX has showed an interest in attending out next SAREX. Topics include Boat Crew / Coxswain Training, Execution of Search Patterns, PIW Search, Cruise Exercise, and preparation for ISAR 4. It has come to my attention that we have a lack of qualified people to go on RDF missions. To compensate for this we will schedule a RDF training course. 5. With the additional instructors qualified, I hope it will increase the amount of class given to the public. I would like to get all the Instructors together. 6. 5 pilots have been recruited with aircraft, so far. 2 of the 5 pilots have almost completed their training. Another 6 pilots are looking to join us. 7. Our Communication Specialty Course is scheduled to start Tuesday, 13 January 2004. The instructor for the course will be Bill Tooker. The course will be held at Station Shinnecock and will run for about 8 weeks. Time TBA. 8. 2004 Workshops – No dates have been set. 8.1. Winter Ops / Dry Suit Training 8.2. Treat members as you would like to be treated. 10. The District Awards Conference will be held at the Mystic Marriott this year on 5, 6 and 7 March. Saturday, 6 March is the big day filled with workshops, the Group Commanders Luncheon and at night the District Banquette. The District store will be open all day long. On Sunday, 7 March you may want to attend the District Board and Staff Meeting. Keep an eye on the District Website for details. I will forward any information I receive. Remember, you don’t need to stay overnight to benefit from the workshops, come up for the day. 11. We were asked to participate in Brookhaven National Lab’s, Health, Fitness, & Safety Fair on Wednesday, 22 October. This was one of the most successful Public Affair missions I have ever participated in. We had about 500 people passing our table. We will do the same next year. 12. Our next meeting of the Division Board and Staff will be held on Thursday, 8 January @ 1930 on the Mess Deck at Station Shinnecock. The uniform of the day will be Tropical Blue Long or appropriate civilian attire. All members are invited and are encouraged to attend. Get information first hand. James H.
